A Structure refers to a system of connected parts used to support a load. Significant examples of Structural systems that we often see around are Bridges, Buildings, Dams, Chimneys, Trusses, Water Tanks etc. In Structural Analysis we learn how to idealize structures and analyse the internal and external forces acting on them under loading. These forces are Shear, Bending Moment, Lateral and axial Loads, Torsion etc. Analysis governs us to design structural system so as to provide safety and serviceability.
