Steel Structure

Steel Structure

Any Steel Structure is an assemblage of different structural members like beams, columns, tension/compression members, which are bolted or connected to one another, usually at member ends. This subject deals with the design of tension and compression members, beams, girders etc.. and the connection details to provide safety and serviceability. With few limitations in RCC construction, it has wide industry applicability as it has more strength per unit mass, it is more durable, more ductile, can be easily repaired, molded to any desired shape and compact structural members can be designed and more importantly, steel structures can be built in quite lesser time compared to RCC.

This subject contains marks weightage of 5 to 6 in GATE Civil Engineering. This course contains gate study material for Steel Structure which includes online recorded video lectures, online test series, e-books prepared by IIT and IISc graduates.
