About

Geotechnical Engineering

This Subject Geotechnical Engineering (also known as Soil Mechanics ) is one of the youngest disciplines of Civil Engineering involving the study of soil , its behaviour and application as an Engineering material. Soil Mechanics is the application of laws of mechanics and hydraulics to engineering problems dealing with sediments & other unconsolidated accumulations of solid particles produced by mechanical or chemical disintegration of rocks regardless of whether or not they contain an admixture of organic constituent” Applications: Foundation Design & Construction, Design of underground structures & Earth Retaining Structures, Pavement Design, Design of Earth Dams, Design of Embankments.

This subject contains marks weightage of 15 to 16 in GATE Civil Engineering. This course contains gate study material for Geotechnical Engineering which includes online recorded video lectures, online test series, e-books prepared by IIT annd IISc graduates.
