GATE 2014 will be held on the 1st, 2nd, 15th and 16th of February, and the1st and 2nd of March in 2014. It is one of top competitive examinations held in India. The exam aims to test an applicant’s understanding of the various subjects in Engineering and Technology. Here are some expert predictions looking at the stats of 2013.
The number of GATE applicants is increasing every year. According to a report published in the website of IIT Bombay, a total of 12, 00,728 candidates registered for GATE 2013. Out of this, 9, 84,855 candidates (82.02%) appeared for the exam, and only 1, 36,699 (13.88 %) could qualify the exam with a valid score. The competition was really tough. It may get tougher in 2014, with the number of candidates appearing for GATE increasing every year.
Experts believe that the increase is mainly driven by the multiple benefits that a valid GATE score offers. A valid GATE score widens scopes for higher studies, and opens doors to top PSUs, such as, CIL, SAIL, and GAIL.
