GATE Paper Pattern

As part of your preparation for the GATE exam, you should first get yourself acquainted with the GATE pattern. In each GATE paper, there will be a total of 65 GATE questions carrying 100 marks. The GATE pattern for different papers may be different in terms of distribution of marks and GATE questions. There is a corresponding code for each paper. For example, AE stands for aerospace engineering, while CE stands for civil engineering. The tables given below outline the GATE question paper patterns for different paper codes.
