Who all are eligible for GATE 2021 – Check the eligibility criteria?

Only those students who have registered for the GATE 2021 Exam will be eligible for the GATE examination. Registration is carried out online through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The GATE Exam is conducted either by one of the 8 IIT’s (Indian Institutes of Technology) or IISc (Indian Institute of Science). They are coordinated by the National Coordination Board – GATE, which comes under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and Government of India. GATE or General Aptitude Test in Engineering is something that is used to test a person’s know-how in the field of Engineering. The GATE Exams hold a lot of weight when it comes to deciding where you are going to do your higher studies and/or where you will subsequently do your job. Major PSU’S (Public Service Undertakings) take the GATE exam scores into account when employing new personnel into their company. So a good GATE score means that you can easily get placement in any government job of your choosing.

Some well-known PSU’s that take GATE scores into account are companies like DRDO, ONGC, Power Grid and more. GATE scores also play a major role in deciding whether the person will qualify for higher education in a good college, be it in India or abroad. Whether it be one of the 8 IITs or in IISc, Bengaluru, or a University abroad, like the Aachen University of Germany, the National University of Singapore, or the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. All these Institutions take GATE scores into account when they are accepting student applications. The format of the GATE exam usually involves a mix of General Aptitude questions and Numerical Answer Type questions. The exams last a length of 3 hours or 180 minutes, with no sectional time limit. In total, your GATE exam will have a total of 65 questions worth 100 marks.

GATE 2021 Application Form will be available on the official website of IIT Bombay tentatively in the last week of August 2020. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria of GATE 2021 will have to register through GOAPS tentatively by the fourth week of September 2020.

Note: Only those students who meets the Educational Eligibility Criteriaand have registered for the GATE 2021 Exam will be eligible for the GATE examination.

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the IISc (Indian Institute of Science) and the seven IITs(Indian Institutes of Technology) on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. GATE 2021 score can be used by students for admissions to various post-graduate programmes (e.g. M.E., M.Tech, direct Ph.D.) in Indian higher education institutes with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies.The score may also be used by Public sector units for employment screening purposes.
